The Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Protects consumers by limiting the circumstances in which consumer reporting agencies may disclose information about consumers to others, requiring such agencies to adopt reasonable procedures to ensure the maximum possible accuracy in the credit reports they prepare, providing rights to consumers with respect to disputed information, requiring consumer reporting agencies to provide a copy of their credit file if requested.

The Equal Credit Opportunity Act.
Ensures your ability to obtain credit regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital status or age(with certain exceptions).

The Fair Credit Billing Act.
Asserts that if you receive a bill you believe is in error and you notify the creditor in writing within 60 days the creditor must either correct the bill or send you an explanation within 90 days.

The Truth in Lending Act.
Requires lenders to disclose all costs and fees associated with extending you credit.

The Fair Credit Debt Collection Act.
Prohibits debt collectors from harassing you, and requires that they verify for you the amount owed.
